Although there are a lot of places to get a copy of your credit report, we recommend just one.
AnnualCreditReport.com is monitored by the Federal Trade Commission and will provide you with one report from each of the three credit bureaus every 12 months, no strings attached. Many of the other sites that offer “FREE” credit reports want you to sign up for a credit monitoring service or other programs.

We also recommend that you visit www.optoutprescreen.com or call 1–888–5OPTOUT (1–888–567–8688). This service, which usually takes a couple days to go into effect, will help reduce the amount of unsolicited offers of credit and other marketing that you receive.
